Hello World?

Well, all my web 2.0 friends should be proud of me. Following in the wake of BarCamp DC this past weekend, again the question came up several times as to “do you have a blog?” Technically, I do, as I maintain an account on Livejournal, but I’ve been meaning to start an independent blog for quite a while for a variety of reasons.

I love Livejournal, and it’s probably my favorite community site out there, but it doesn’t really plug into the blog-o-sphere the way a standalone one can, and I use it too much for personal interaction and socializing to really feel comfortable using is for more public facing purposes. Most of the posts there are locked and for discussion and interaction with people I already know, and I feel bad directing people I meet at conventions or interact with through work or meet-ups there, as most of the context is not available or lost to them.

So, here you have it, my very own “real” blog.

Congrats. I’m not in the field, but I am interested and hoping to learn something, and maybe even become able to do some things for myself.

Neat! FYI – for us folks who use LiveJournal as a catchall feed-reader, your blog is fed to LJ as “1littlewindow”. Consider yourself friended.
