You can come down and pretend you’re at the reception — the drinks are more expensive but the food is cheaper (if you consider the cost to get in the door). It appears that along with the Refreshes, Bar Camps, Meetups and Tweetups, a new craze is sweeping the nation. Convention attendance is down in light of the recession, and so many security practitioners who would normally be making the trip to Vegas this year to enjoy the wonders of Black Hat and DefCon are not.
